SHE – MORE HUMANE THAN HUMANS!
BY SONIKA SINGH
She patiently stood for her turn at the gates of heaven,
Happy out of the hell on earth, where agony to her was given.
Abused and humiliated, she met a very painful death,
With a baby in her womb, wounded and tired, she took her last breath.
She didn’t protest, defend, or show her anger towards her predator,
Divinity and forgiveness defined her gentle nature.
Agonized, but not angry she went into the lap of the river,
Neelkanthan and Sundaran, her friends called, but she just stood there without a quiver.
Standing for hours in water – all her sweet memories in the forest came flooding by,
She had played happily under the sun, and danced when stars twinkled in the azure sky.
Coming of age in the Silent Valley Park, she was cared for, protected, and safe,
But on that fateful day, she lost her way, trusted Man and he led her to her grave.
When she knocked at his door, he fed her a pineapple laced with firecrackers,
What had she done that she met this fate at the hands of the evil inhuman attacker?
She was Humanity – the pregnant elephant, who pardoned and trusted the human race,
Her faith in goodness had disappeared – silently she stood in the river to die in grace.
Welcoming her with open arms, the tear-eyed God gave a faint smile,
“I have committed perhaps the greatest sin, my child! I created Man – the vilest of the vile!’’
